Residents interested in supporting their local community are invited to come along to an event aimed at those thinking of becoming a county councillor.
Taking place at County Hall in Chelmsford, the free event will give prospective candidates the opportunity to find out more about the role of councillors, the work they do with their local communities, and also meet representatives of the different political parties.
The event comes ahead of County Council elections due to be held next May.
Cllr David Finch, Leader of Essex County Council, said: “Essex is one of the biggest council areas in the country, and councillors play an absolutely vital role in supporting our rich and diverse communities across the county.
“While being a councillor is hugely demanding, the ability to make a difference and give something back to your local community is a wonderful opportunity.
“We have councillors of all ages and backgrounds, and through these events, we hope to give a little bit more information about what is involved in the day-to-day work of being a county councillor.”
The event is free to attend and will take place on Saturday 17 September from 9:30am to 11:45am and again on Wednesday 28 September from 6pm to 8:15pm.
