Highways engineers are monitoring traffic on the Army and Navy roundabout to assess how the flyover can be best used to keep congestion to a minimum.
Drivers are asked to take extra care while monitoring takes place.
A spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “Currently the Flyover changes direction at 2.30pm to outbound traffic only. Our traffic monitoring will inform a decision as to whether we should change that time. Safety is paramount, so we will assess any proposals against potential risks. If any changes are planned, we will publicise them well in advance.”
Any change will be advertised to everyone through information in local newspapers and radio bulletins, online at www.essexhighways.org
and through Essex County Council’s Twitter feed @Essex_Travel.
The new Chelmer Viaduct came into full use this week with changes made to the Army and Navy also completed to join up with the new bridge.
