Watching the weather from your local library

3 May 2016

Libraries across Essex will be celebrating the British weather in May as part of a campaign aimed to tie in with the launch of BBC’s Weather Watchers.

Special Baby and Toddler rhymetimes within libraries will focus on weather rhymes while children’s books on the subject will be available to borrow from libraries across the county.

The events come after the BBC launched its new Weather Watchers website.

The website encourages people aged 16 and over to record the weather where they are by uploading their own photos.

Various libraries will be participating in events throughout May. You can find dates and times on the ‘What’s New?’ page of our website www.essex.gov.uk/libraries.

Cllr Anne Brown, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Corporate, Communities and Customers, said: “The ever-changing British weather always gives us something to talk about. This series of events offers us a great opportunity to educate the next generation whilst sharing our British obsession with the weather.”
