Engineers working on behalf of Epping Forest District Council will soon begin works to improve local roads in Loughton to support a new shopping park.
Planned works will include new pedestrian crossings, improved street lighting and drainage systems; and the replacing of mini roundabouts with traffic signal-controlled junctions.
Works will take place around the A1168 Chigwell Lane/A113 Abridge Road Junction, A1168 Rectory Lane/The Broadway and Langston Road. Some footway and carriageway widening is also planned for the A1168 Chigwell Lane and the A1168 Rectory Lane.
The scheme will reduce the impact of extra local traffic associated with the new shopping park off Langston Road, Loughton as well as helping ease congestion in this area.
Contractors will begin site preparation at the end of July, with construction works expected by the end of August. Road signs with advance warning of dates will be put up before works commence.
While every effort will be made by the contractors to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible, road users should expect some delays to journeys caused by temporary traffic management during the works.
Work will typically be carried out between 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1.30pm on Saturday with overnight works sometimes required.
The target completion date is April 2017 for the works.
Details on the scheme, including the latest information on road restrictions and advance closures is available on the Essex County Council website essex.gov.uk/majorschemes
under Other Schemes, and will be advertised on local signage.
