National Cycle Network

Sustrans - the sustainable transport charity - is developing the National Cycle Network (NCN). The plan is to use new and existing routes to develop a UK wide network of largely traffic free cycling and walking routes. The Network now passes within one mile of half the population and over 338 million trips were taken on it in 2006.

National Routes 1, 13, 16 & 51 all come through Essex.
