Welcome to the Essex bus travel pages. Here you can find information on Bus Passes and Concessionary Fares, Timetable Information and Bus Operators. We have an extensive bus network with 85% of journeys run by commercial operators and the remaining 15% funded by Essex County Council.
We also offer information on Proof of age cards for young people (BITE Cards), public transport maps, fares and PlusBus.
Bus timetables and journey planning
Use Traveline if you want to plan a journey or search for all the services going through your town or village. You can specify when, where and how you want to travel, whether by train, bus or coach. Traveline also provides timetables for downloading and printing.
If you have a smartphone or android mobile phone you can keep update with local bus information with the NextBuses app.
The application costs £0.69p to download and provides both scheduled and real time information (where available) for over 370,000 buses. Information is taken from the Traveline website, which also had an app available to download.
Shopper Bus Services
Essex County Council, in partnership with local bus operators and parish councils, operates 34 shopper bus services.
Each Service is fully accessible and has timed departures from villages and towns. Many of the services can be adapted to meet specific needs of passengers.
