Employees help spread festive cheer to children in Essex this Christmas

A group of our employees have used volunteer hours to wrap over 600 presents in two days for the Essex Libraries Santa Bus.

The Santa Bus will be travelling around Essex throughout December bringing a free and magical ‘Santa's Grotto’ experience to families who may not be able to afford to visit one this year.

The bus is one of many initiatives we have launched that aim to ‘Level Up’ Essex, ensuring those in the most disadvantaged areas in the county have access to the same opportunities as elsewhere.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Levelling Up, Communities and Business Engagement, Councillor Louise McKinlay said: “Volunteers have donated their time and efforts to wrap presents that will make this Christmas, special for many families in Essex.

“Their commitment to spreading cheer and creating unforgettable memories is very much appreciated.”

One of our volunteers, Megan, described their experience as “heart-warming”.

Bookings for the Santa Bus open on Monday 20 November at 5pm. Book your slot now.

There are plenty of volunteering opportunities in Essex this Christmas. The kindness of volunteers can make a real difference to the lives of those in need this winter.
