Mersea Island meadow rejuvenates natural habitats

We are making good on our commitment to plant over 375,000 trees in Essex by 2025.

A 5,000 sq metre meadow was recently planted outside the Essex Outdoors Mersea centre.

Councillor Peter Schwier lent a hand at the planting alongside our employees. This included John Meehan, our Head of Climate Adaptation & Mitigation.

The meadow will help our aim to protect nearly a third of the Essex Climate Focus Area. This covers the River Blackwater and River Colne.

It also helps ensure natural habitats are better off than before developments take place. This is something we will continue elsewhere in Essex.
