Revamp underway for Colchester youth centres

Single-storey youth centre building on a cloudy day.

Colchester’s three youth centres will be revamped using £1.3 million.

Young people will be able to spend time together in better quality facilities thanks to a partnership between Essex Youth Services and Colchester City Council.

It has kicked off with investment in Highwoods Youth Centre. Young people have helped shape plans, which include:

 ·        Welcoming new entrance

·         Modern kitchen area

·         Upgraded restrooms

·         Vibrant decorations and flooring

·         Dedicated storage room for equipment

·         Eye-catching feature wall

·         Improved accessibility features

The city’s Townhouse and Stanway youth centres will see improvements over the summer.

The funding comes from the Town Deal programme. This aims to regenerate towns and enable future growth.
