What service is being provided?
The Essex County Council Safeguarding Children Service contains the Local Authority Designated Officers (LADOs) who have a statutory responsibility for the management and oversight of cases where there are safeguarding concerns/allegations made against people who work or volunteer with children in any setting across Essex. In addition, the LADOs also undertake risk assessments as part of the Council's pre-employment checks where a DBS trace has been found; complete Vetting and Barring checks where the DBS request information on individuals who may need to be barred from working with children, and work with district council licensing authorities to ensure that all gambling and licences intending to sell alcohol consider the protection of children from harm.
