I confirm that I have been resident in the UK/European Union for the last three years

I confirm that I will keep Adult Community Learning Essex informed of any changes in my personal details e.g. address, especially telephone number, and in particular my status where it affects my entitlement to any fee remission I may have been granted
I confirm that I will respect the rights of all centre users to be able to work in a cooperative manner and treat everyone with respect regardless of differences in culture, disability, learning difficulties, medical conditions, race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion or social class.


Data protection

The personal information you provide is passed to the Chief Executive of Skills Funding (“the Agency”) and, when needed, the Department for Education, including the Education Funding Agency to meet legal duties under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009, and for the Agency’s Learning Records Service (LRS) to create and maintain a unique learner number (ULN). 
Class cancellation
In the event of having to postpone a class, every attempt will be made to inform you. With your permission we may text you and in severe weather conditions, any closures will be broadcast on local radio (e.g. Heart FM and BBC Essex). Updates will also be posted on our Facebook page.  


We provide support for people with disabilities, learning difficulties and medical conditions such as hard of hearing, visual impairment, diabetes, wheelchair users.  Please contact the centre where you plan to study to discuss your learning needs.

Electrical equipment and computers

Please ensure that you use any electrical equipment in a safe manner and that all equipment has been approved as safe by health and safety staff.

Fire safety

If the fire bell rings, please leave the building immediately and congregate in the designated assembly area. Please report any defective fire fighting or warning equipment immediately to reception. Please ensure that fire doors are not wedged open and that their self-closing mechanisms are not tampered with in any way.

Mobile phones

Please switch off mobile phones during lessons except with the prior agreement of the course tutor.


Please keep noise to a minimum, particularly when signs indicate that an exam is taking place.


Smoking is not permitted inside any of our premises or at entrance/exit points of buildings.
