Gypsy and Traveller Healthcare

10 April 2018

The Gypsy/Traveller community experience significant health inequalities and issues accessing key services.

The ECTU are working with NHS and Public Health to improve access to primary healthcare services through provision of our specialist outreach and referral services.

The outreach team will enable health and social care information and services to be more accessible to the Gypsy and Traveller community.  This includes support in accessing:

  • GP and dentist registration
  • access to primary immunisation and flu jab
  • support in the treatment of long-term conditions
  • access to stop smoking, healthy eating advice
  • access to ante-natal care

The recent completion of a health needs assessment on the community will help further target the support where it is most needed.

If you would like help and support in accessing any service relating to your health please contact us  and we will arrange for one of our experienced outreach team members to come and visit you.
