A section of Dry Street in Basildon will be closed to vehicles from its junction with the A176 Nethermayne from Monday, 9 January for road widening works.
This will be the first phase of works under Basildon Borough Council’s planning condition relating to the new Redrow Homes Development on land north of Dry Street.
- The widening and reconstruction of Dry Street including the provision of a footway on the northern side
- A signalised junction at Dry Street with Nethermayne
- The dualling of Nethermayne from Dry Street to the hospital roundabout
- Street lighting will also be replaced and upgraded.
The scheme aims to provide safer access to Dry Street to and from the Nethermayne junction and increase the vehicle capacity of the A176. The target completion date for the overall scheme is winter 2017.
Traffic management will be necessary throughout the works with temporary lane and footpath restrictions. A signed diversion will be in place during the road closure and special access arrangements are in place for the Hospital’s Dry Street ambulance entrance and residential access on Dry Street from the A176.
Dry Street will remain a no through road for the duration of the works.
Further information will be made available on our website under Other Schemes/Development Schemes www.essex.gov.uk/highways
