Jason Kitcat, Executive Director for Corporate Development, will be leaving Essex County Council on 31 May 2019.
Jason Kitcat has been at the council for two years. Under his leadership, the authority has built significant new digital capabilities including for Service Design and Data Science, while also completely redesigning its Technology Services department. He has delivered significant savings from his portfolio and grown the council's profitable traded businesses.
Gavin Jones, Chief Executive, said: "When I was appointed Essex County Council’s CEO, I recognised that we needed to create the Executive Director for Corporate Development post to achieve a fundamental shift in how we approached technology and change in the organisation. With the ongoing financial challenges facing us, the council now needs to streamline the support the corporate centre provides, so the position will be deleted.
"I would like to thank Jason for his excellent contributions to the progress we have made as a council and wish him all the best for the future."
Jason Kitcat said: “I have now completed my remit to reshape a significant portion of the council’s corporate services, delivering efficiencies and creating whole new capabilities that use data, digital and design thinking to re-imagine council services. I’m looking forward to bringing the superb experiences I’ve gained at Essex to my next challenge in driving public services forward into the internet age.”
