Essex County Council owned Cressing Temple Barns today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence.
The Grade-I listed Barley and Wheat Barns, built in the 13th century, are among the oldest timber barns and the few surviving Templar buildings in England. Another Grade-I listed timber-framed building, the Granary, built sometime just after 1575, is the largest granary in Essex.
Cressing Temple’s Walled Garden is a faithfully reconstructed Tudor pleasure garden, one of few to be found nationally.
Painstakingly researched for authenticity, its original Tudor brick wall encloses a knot garden with box hedging, a nosegay garden, arbour, medicinal plants and a vegetable garden. Its centrepiece is a brick fountain with four spouts symbolising the rivers of paradise. Water trickles from the fountain along a rill to a Tudor brick fishpond.
Trip Advisor has been awarding Certificates of Excellence for the past six years, to recognise and celebrate hospitality businesses which have earned great traveller reviews on their website.
Recipients include businesses providing accommodation, eateries, and attractions located all over the world which have consistently delivered a quality customer experience.
Councillor Kay Twitchen, Deputy Cabinet Member for Sustainability said: “Congratulations to all who have made Cressing Temple a great place to visit. It is lovely to receive this recognition from TripAdvisor and will hopefully encourage more visitors to come and visit over the Summer.”
"With the Certificate of Excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers”, said Heather Leisman, Vice President of Industry Marketing, TripAdvisor. “This recognition helps travellers identify and book properties that regularly deliver great service. TripAdvisor is proud to play this integral role in helping travellers feel more confident in their booking decisions.”
