There are some blooming good events coming up for gardeners in Essex: collect some free compost and learn how to make your own at home

24 March 2017

One of the best ways to enjoy a bright and beautiful garden is to create your own compost. That is the advice from the Recycle for Essex team.

Vegetable peelings, leftover fruit and veg, old teabags and coffee grounds are the perfect ingredients to create rich nutritious compost which will help your garden grow and blossom.

A series of events is set to take place across Essex at which expert composters will be on hand to offer advice on how to turn waste into an excellent, and natural, soil improver which can be used to dress lawns, pot up plants, revitalise flowerbeds and mulched as a plant feed for vegetable patches.

There are even free samples of compost available to take away for any keen gardeners who bring a spade and bag along.
