Tour de France

14 February 2019

Thousands of people turned out to watch the biggest cycle race in the world when stage three of the Tour de France came to Essex on Monday 7 July.

It's estimated more than a million spectators lined the entire stage route in Cambridge, Essex and London.

Crowds cheered as the riders entered Saffron Walden, where the carnival and big screen on the common provided the backdrop for the celebrations.

Spectators flocked to Finchingfield to watch the riders pass through one of the most photographed villages in the country, while Epping High Street was packed with onlookers for the sprint section.
