Covid-19 data shows rates continue to decline
In the seven days up to 1 April, there were 272 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Essex.
Up to 1 April, the weekly case rate for Essex is 18.3 per 100,000 with the highest weekly case rates in Colchester and Tendring, with rates of 25.7 and 26.6 per 100,000 respectively. The area with the lowest weekly case rate is Uttlesford, with a rate of 9.9 per 100,000.
Dr Mike Gogarty, Essex County Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “It is very reassuring that rates across Essex have continued to decline, particularly as we look ahead to Monday and the next stage of easing restrictions under the government’s roadmaps.
“However, it is absolutely crucial that as we take this step forward, we do so safely and continue to take positive action to keep ourselves and others safe. Everyone can do this by taking up the vaccine when they are invited to do so, taking part in regular self-testing if they are not showing symptoms and continuing to socially distance.
“The actions we all take over the coming weeks and months will become even more important in managing the risk and spread of the virus and we must all play our part.”
