Latest data sees a marginal decrease
In the seven days up to 18 March, there were 532 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Essex.
Up to 18 March, the weekly case rate for Essex is 35.7 per 100,000 with the highest weekly case rates in Harlow and Castle Point, with rates of 49.4 and 68.6 per 100,000 respectively. The area with the lowest weekly case rate is Maldon, with a rate of 10.8 per 100,000.
Dr Mike Gogarty, Essex County Council’s Director of Public Health, said: “We have seen a marginal decrease in the overall Covid-19 rate for Essex, which is reassuring.
“However, some specific areas have also seen small increases. While this is something we would expect to happen as the decrease in levels of Covid-19 flattens and restrictions start to ease, it is a clear reminder that we must not drop our guard.
“We need to continue to take every precaution as we look ahead to the milestones outlined in the government’s roadmap and keep following the guidance to ensure we reach them.”
