Reading in unusual places challenge

Reading in unusual places challenge

We’re challenging you to find the most unusual place you can think of to read a book this summer. This could be anywhere weird or wonderful in the county. From sitting on a paddleboard, to dressed as a monkey at the zoo, to standing on your head. The possibilities are endless!

Our new 'Reading in Unusual Places' challenge is part of the Essex Year of Reading campaign. Through it, we're aiming to inspire a lifelong love of reading for children and adults of all ages. We're also addressing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on pupils' education. We want every child in Essex to leave school being able to read at their age level or better.

Why not see where reading could take you this summer? Share your photos with us on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #ReadingInUnusualPlaces. Or tag @EssexCountyCouncil on Facebook. We will share the most unusual photos on our social media channels. The closing date for the challenge is Friday 2 September 2022.
