Refugee Week 2022
Every human being has the right to feel safe and we are proud to welcome people from other nations to the county. Connecting with people who have different experiences and stories to share can help to break down barriers and enable us to better understand each another.
We are continuing to work with partners to ensure individuals and families arriving to Essex feel safe and supported. Essex is made up of diverse, inclusive and welcoming communities, and this is something we should all be proud of.
More recently, 951 sponsors in Essex have come forward to offer homes to more than 2,000 people who have applied for Homes for Ukraine visa to date. We are also pleased to share that 34 families have been resettled into homes in Essex under the Government’s Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy and Afghan Citizen Resettlement Scheme. This means that a total of 181 men, women, and children are now living safer lives in Essex.
If you looking to settle in Essex from Ukraine, find information about how to apply for the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
If you are an Essex resident and are looking for ways to support people arriving from Ukraine, find out what you can do to help.
