What service is being provided?

Information Governance provide advice and support to Essex County Council employees. They also investigate security incidents within Essex County Council and Data Protection Complaints made by the general public.

What will it be used for and what gives us the right to ask for it and use it?

The information will be used to deliver advice and support to the authority and to investigate data protection complaints for the general public and may also be used for service planning and improvement and the prevention and detection of crime and fraud

If we cannot use your data we could not provide a service.

Our legal basis for using your personal data is necessary for a task in the public interest and under a legal obligation.

Our legal basis for using your sensitive personal data is under a substantial public  interest and the establishment or defence of legal claims.
