How to register a death

You must make an appointment to register a death. All appointments must be in person.

Deaths must be registered within 5 days. If the death is being investigated by the Coroner this might not be possible.

If the death occurred in Essex, it should be registered here. This does not include Southend or Thurrock who register deaths separately.
