Changes to council services

National restrictions mean some of our services will change. We advise you to check back here often, or check for social media updates.
The following services have changed.
Births, ceremonies and deaths
Registration services will continue using our booking system. Marriage or civil partnership ceremonies will not take place.

Most Essex libraries will be temporarily closed to the public. 16 sites will remain open to offer registration services and public computer access by appointment only.

Roads, streets and transport
Public transport will continue to operate in line with government guidelines. We advise you to check your transport operator's website before setting out on your journey.
Planning, land and recycling
All 21 recycling centres remain open, but expect delays.
Read the site restrictions and social distancing measures before visiting.
Leisure, culture and heritage
Essex Country Parks
All parks remain open, including outdoor spaces at Cressing Temple Barns. Parks, car parks, children’s play equipment and toilets will remain open. Some cafés continue to offer a takeaway service.
Sky Ropes at Great Notley is closed.

The Essex Record Office (ERO)
ERO is closed. Some online services are still available.
