What the national restrictions mean for you

National restrictions: Overview

Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are rising rapidly across the UK.

To help stop the spread of infection, from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December, there are national restrictions for England.

These include:

  • Requiring people to stay at home, except for specific purposes
  • Preventing gathering with people you do not live with, except for specific purposes
  • Closing certain businesses and venues

What this means

GOV.UK has published guidance on the new national restrictions.
