Business rates

1 August 2016

Business rates are charged on most non-domestic properties. They're calculated by multiplying the rateable value of a property (set by the Valuation Office Agency) by the business rates multiplier (set by central government).

GOV.UK offers a range of information on business rates, including how to check or appeal the rateable value of your premises and details of rate reliefs.

Collection of business rates is administered by the district and borough councils of Essex. For information on how to pay please contact your local district or borough council.
