M11 Junction 7A public drop-in events

10 May 2018

Two public drop-in events relating to the M11 Junction 7A scheme are taking place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 May in Old Harlow.

The public events – known as Orders Exhibitions – are an opportunity for individuals, organisations and businesses to meet project staff and discuss the latest developments in the M11 Junction 7A scheme, including:

  • Publication of the draft Orders: Draft Orders are legal documents that will be published in the near future, providing detailed information about how we plan to go forward with the scheme.
  • Noise barriers along Gilden Way / Sheering Road: As outlined in our 2016 public consultation, we are planning to install noise barriers at some locations along Gilden Way and Sheering Road to reduce the impact of traffic noise on residents. These barriers are typically wooden fences, although other materials can be used such as brick and clear plastic. There is a map of the proposed barriers on our website (see below), and we are inviting comment from members of the public and stakeholders.
  • Removal of The Oxleys underpass: Since the public consultation took place in 2016, Harlow Council has advised us that there are significant benefits to removing the underpass under Gilden Way between The Oxleys and Gilden Close. The underpass does not conform to the latest accessibility standards, is prone to flooding, and has become associated with anti-social behaviour. The existing crossing near the junction with Mulberry Green would be upgraded, ensuring it provides a safe crossing across Gilden Way.

There are visualisations on the Essex County Council website showing how The Oxleys and Gilden Close would look after the underpass has been removed, and residents have received details of the proposals and feedback invited.

The two events will be held at Mulberry Green Church Hall, Catholic Church of the Assumption, Mulberry Green, Old Harlow, CM17 0HA 2pm-8pm, Friday 11 May 2018  and 10am-4pm, Saturday 12 May 2018

Detailed information on these proposals, including how to provide comments, can be found at
