Aniqa Rahman has joined as Digital Inclusion Support Officer, working within a new shared service between Hertfordshire County Council and Essex County Council to deliver Hertfordshire’s digital inclusion programme. She shares more about her role and mission to ensure everyone can access and benefit from the digital world.

Hi, I’m Aniqa, and I’ve recently stepped into the role of Digital Inclusion Support Officer, working to ensure that everyone in Hertfordshire has the digital access, confidence and support they need to thrive.

What I'm about

I believe that digital inclusion is more than just technology, it’s about making sure that no one is left behind in a world that’s increasingly online. Whether it’s helping someone apply for a job, connect with loved ones, or access vital services, digital access is a lifeline.

My mission is to listen to communities, learn what matters most to them, and work together with local organisations and digital hubs to make Hertfordshire more connected and inclusive.

What I'm doing

As part of my role, I’m:

  • Visiting digital inclusion hubs across Hertfordshire to support service delivery and update the Digital Help Finder tool.
  • Connecting with CVSs and community groups to understand their needs and help them showcase their digital offers.
  • Promoting free SIMs and broadband deals through initiatives like the National Databank, helping people stay connected affordably.

What's next?

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be:

  • Meeting hubs and libraries in Hertfordshire to understand their digital support needs.
  • Helping run digital sessions with Digital Champions, empowering residents with the skills and confidence to navigate the online world.
  • Introducing the Digital Help Finder tool to community partners, making it easier for people to discover free digital services near them.
