Request your child's school details

Non-resident parents sometimes submit requests to find out which school their child attends.

No parent has an automatic right to information about their child. That right belongs to the child. We will only provide information where we believe it is in the best interests of the child to do so.

We have a duty of care to all young people in Essex. If the child is 12 years or older we will need their consent to release the information to you. If they are too immature to make this decision, we will contact the parent with day to day care and control of the child to make sure there are no safeguarding concerns. They will need to provide evidence of any concerns, such as court orders or safeguarding reports.

To request information about your child's school, you will need to provide:

  • your full name
  • your full address
  • proof of your identity, such as a valid passport, driving license or full birth certificate
  • your child's full birth certificate
  • your child's full name
  • your child's address
  • the full name of the parent or guardian whom your child lives with
  • a telephone number and / or email address for the parent or guardian whom your child lives with
  • written consent from your child (DOC, 51.83 KB), if they are over 12 years of age

Completing our downloadable form is the best way to make sure that you are giving us the right information.
