Inclusive Dementia Communities Programme

Essex Dementia Friendly Community Networks aim to increase dementia awareness in their local areas. They help enable communities to be accessible and support people living with dementia. This includes changing people’s perceptions of dementia and the way they think, act and talk about it. People with dementia feel safer in a community that is understanding and supportive of their needs. This feeling of safety empowers them to continue to take part in activities that are meaningful to them.

To help us build these communities, we work with:

  • local community organisations
  • businesses
  • organisations
  • schools
  • places of worship

Dementia Ambassadors throughout Essex deliver dementia awareness sessions via Dementia Friends

Home safety

The Essex Fire and Rescue Service offers free home safety visits. They will visit to assess the safety of your home and make suggestions for changes you could make.
