Casual vacancies

Notice is hereby given under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that a casual vacancy exists in the office of County Councillor for the Rayleigh North division of Essex County Council.

A by-election will be held if the County Council’s Chief Executive receives written requests for the vacancy to be filled from 2 local government electors for the County of Essex.

If 2 requests from electors are received, the by-election must be held within 35 days. There is no time limit for receipt of the requests.

Unless 2 requests are received, the seat will remain vacant until the next ordinary elections in 2025.

Requests for a by-election must include the elector’s name and address and be sent to the Deputy Returning Officer at:
