Community DigiHubs

Helping people in Essex get online

Working with partners, we’ve set up Community DigiHubs across the county. Digital Champions volunteer at these hubs to help people learn how to use the internet and devices. The aim is to make sure that no one is left behind in today’s digital world.

Since the project began in 2024, five hubs have opened and around 300 training sessions have been held. People have used the hubs to:

  • apply for jobs
  • use online banking
  • book doctor’s appointments
  • stay in touch with family and friends
  • start their own businesses
  • save money by finding better deals online

There are hubs open now in the following areas, and more are coming soon. You can contact each hub to find out when help is available.

Volunteers make a big difference

Volunteers are a big part of what makes our DigiHubs work. Laura Cheng, a Digital Champion at the Hutton hub, says helping others has also helped her. "It’s been a rewarding experience to both improve my own digital knowledge and enjoy helping others at the same time”
