The Essex Minerals Site Awards is a biennial event recognising mineral extraction and landfill companies’ efforts to operate sites in a way that:
- respects the environment
- engages the local community
On 23 November 2018, we celebrated the minerals and waste industry’s achievements at the 14th Essex Minerals Site Awards Ceremony, held in the Council Chamber at County Hall.
In the summer of 2018, Mineral Planning Officers assessed 15 of 23 eligible sites. Final scores were based on this, as well the results of site monitoring visits conducted in the previous two years. This resulted in 12 Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for those operators with the best performance in the county.
The Chairman of the Council presented Gold Awards to:
- Blackwater Aggregates for Bradwell Quarry (Braintree)
- Hanson UK for Bulls Lodge Quarry (Chelmsford)
- Tarmac for Stanway Quarry (Colchester)
- WH Collier for the Marks Tey Brickworks (Colchester)
The winners achieved a high standard across all aspects of compliance with planning control. They also showed a commitment to minimising any environmental impact of their site operations.
