Events for Children in Care
All events are free and will take place at Danbury Outdoor Centre, Well Lane, Danbury, CM3 4AB.
Under 8's family activity morning
This event is for all children under 8 who have contact with Essex Social Care. They should attend with a parent, carer or support worker. Children remain the responsibility of their parent, carer or support worker at all times. Other siblings and family members are welcome but they need to be signed up on the form .
The under 8's activity morning will take place on Wednesday 30 July between 10am and 1pm.
Activities may include:
- woodland trails
- party games
- forrest school
Lunch is included for everyone at the event.
8 to 13 year old activity afternoon
This event is for all children in care aged 8 to 13 years old. Children and young people should have a named worker from their area attending the event.
The 8 to 13 year old activity evening will take place on Wednesday 30 July between 4pm and 7pm.
Activities may include:
- obstacle course
- aerial trekking
- mountain biking
- active sports
- arts and crafts
Despicable Me 4 will be showing at the outdoor cinema directly after this event. You can choose it as an extra when booking.
13 to 17 year old activity day
This event is for children in care aged 13 to 17 years old. Children and young people should have a named worker from their area attending the event.
The 13 to 17 year old activity day will be taking place on Monday 28 July between 10am and 3pm. Children should arrive at 9:30am.
Activities may include:
- obstacle course
- aerial trekking
- mountain biking
- active sports
- arts and crafts
Proud to be Me and separated migrant young people event
This event is for children in care, aged 8 to 17, that are also either:
- black
- asian
- mixed heritage
This includes separated Migrant young people. Foster Carers and workers are highly encouraged to attend this learning and celebration event.
At the celebration event we will embrace all cultures and heritage. Activities may include:
- obstacle course
- aerial trekking
- mountain biking
- arts and crafts
- food
- football
- cricket
- haircuts and hair styling (we will make contact to arrange time slots closer to the event)
- discussions about hair and skincare
- music
The Proud to be Me event will be taking place on Tuesday 29 July, between 10am and 3pm.
Outdoor cinema
This event is for all children, young people and families who receive a service from adult social care. Children remain their parent, carer or worker's responsibility at all times. Children cannot attend without an adult
The outdoor cinema will be taking place at 7pm on:
- Wednesday 30 July, showing Despicable Me 4
- Thursday 31 July, showing Inside Out 2
There will be pre-film entertainment, such as bingo, before the film starts at sunset. We recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on whilst you watch the film. Wrap up warm because it does get chilly.
Food can be purchased on site. All children and young people who receive a service from social care will be given food tokens, but we do encourage people attending to bring their own picnics.
