Businesses encouraged to become SEND inclusive

A young boy bounces on a trampoline in a soft play centre.

We're inviting businesses to find out how they could become inclusive for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

SEND inclusive services, groups and activities are a lifeline for many families. By making small changes, businesses will be able to reach and help even more. Children and young people with SEND will also be able to benefit from the same opportunities as their peers.

Changes businesses could make include:

  • hosting quiet sessions for children and young people who are sensitive to sound
  • introducing hearing loops or live speech-to-text apps
  • providing play sessions where children with SEND can make friends

The Essex Local Offer provides information for children and young people with SEND.  It includes a directory of services, groups and activities that are SEND inclusive. SEND inclusive businesses that meet the criteria can be added to the Essex Local Offer for free.

Find out about the other ways your business can become inclusive and join the Essex Local Offer.
