A key crossing in Colchester has been upgraded.

Colne Causeway crossing forms part of a key link between the University of Essex and the city centre. It has been upgraded to increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The works have created a single straight-across toucan crossing. This means walkers and cyclists can cross both lanes of traffic in one go. The pavement has also been widened to make it more accessible.

The project is part of a wider programme to support walking and cycling between Colchester city centre, the university and Greenstead.
