Essex has become an Improvement Partner for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Improvement Partners are funded by the Department for Education. They help local authorities improve children’s services with expert support and advice.
We will now work with Devon County Council (DCC) to help reform its SEND services.
Essex's involvement will be a significant boost. Recently, we had our own transformation to better support children and young people with SEND. In 2022, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission found progress across all areas.
