Our country parks have been recognised for their high standards by being awarded Green Flag status.

The Green Flag awards recognise well managed parks throughout the country. Parks receive them for being well maintained, having excellent visitor facilities and meeting the needs of communities.

Seven of our country parks have received the status and will display the Green Flag. These are:

  • Belhus Woods
  • Danbury
  • Cudmore Grove
  • Great Notley
  • Hadleigh
  • Thorndon
  • Weald

Parks play an important role helping people with their physical and mental health. They provide access to large green spaces to walk, cycle, ride, run and play. Exercising and playing outdoors improves wellbeing and lowers stress levels.

Each country park offers visitors something unique. Attractions include the deer enclosure at Weald, the longest play trail in the county at Great Notley and the Gruffalo trail at Thorndon.
