Essex Outdoors has been shortlisted in the Best Residential category of the School Travel awards.

Essex Outdoors has delivered school residential adventure experiences for the county’s children for over 50 years. It has centres in Brandwell-on-Sea, Danbury, Harlow and Mersea Island.

It provides over 40 activity programmes linked to the national curriculum, ranging from archery, paddle boarding, sailing, zip wires, high ropes and much more. Over 100,000 visitors each year use its sites.

The activities at the Essex Outdoors centres are designed to support the social and moral growth of young people. They also encourage the development of communication and concentration skills and a commitment to learning.

Councillor Graham Butland, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Devolution, the Arts Heritage and Culture, said:

“Essex Outdoors has been delivering incredible experiences to families and children for over 50 years.

“At Essex Outdoors we believe in offering school residential trips for children and young people which provide them with the skills and experiences to help with their education, which is why we are delighted to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award.”

The winners of the School Travel Awards will be announced at a ceremony at The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, on Tuesday 6 June 2023.
