Essex schools invited to access apprenticeship funding

Essex schools can now access our underspent apprenticeship levy. This can be used to offer new learning and development opportunities to teaching and non-teaching staff members.

The apprenticeship levy is paid by employers with a payroll of over £3 million. It covers apprenticeship training costs and can be transferred to a non-levy payer if not used.

Using the funding, schools can cover training costs for a range of apprenticeships. These include:

  • Level 5 Operations or Departmental Manager
  • Level 4 Associate Project Manager
  • Level 2 Facilities Services Operative
  • Level 3 IT Solutions Technician
  • Level 5 Children, Young People and Families Manager
  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner

By offering apprenticeships, Essex schools can expect to attract and retain high-quality talent. These opportunities will also improve the quality of teaching and learning around Essex.

Regardless of the apprenticeship, learners will need to spend 20% of their time on purposeful off-the-job training. This could include developing their curriculum knowledge or shadowing another staff member.
