New careers magazine launches to support Essex residents

Cllr Tony Ball and Cllr Andrew Sheldon

We have launched a new printed and digital magazine showcasing growing sectors, job opportunities and training.

Following the launch of the Essex Skills Plan, Essex Careers is now available across the county.

With four editions across the year, the magazine will showcase the county’s growth sectors to inspire you to enter, retrain in or progress in a variety of future-proof industries. The first edition focusses on the construction sector, with features from organisations and training providers, including:

• Morgan Sindall
• Lower Thames Crossing
• Harlow College
• Ringway Jacobs

Printed reference copies of Essex Careers will be available in ACL centres, libraries, job centres, schools and colleges. A digital version can be accessed via the Essex Opportunities Portal.

The new magazine will support our Levelling Up agenda by helping residents to learn more about securing good jobs and green careers. Each edition will also showcase careers in our Levelling Up areas.

Cllr Tony Ball, ECC Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability, said, “Whether just finishing school or retraining after a few decades, everyone deserves access to impartial and informative guidance on skills, careers, training and education opportunities.

“Our new careers magazine aims to support residents of all ages to understand the opportunities available. We’re also fortunate to have partnered with inspiring local employers, who’ve showcased fantastic opportunities alongside useful tips for securing impactful careers here in Essex.”
