World Suicide Prevention Day 2023

It’s important to share how you are feeling if you are experiencing suicidal thoughts. If you're uncomfortable talking to someone you know, contact the Samaritans.

In Essex, we are working with partners to reduce the stigma around talking about suicide. We want people to be able to spot the signs someone may feel suicidal, know what to say to them and to signpost them to support. Free suicide prevention training is available. By taking the training, you could save a life.

Our work with local employers has also seen over 4,000 people become Mental Health First Aiders. This role is invaluable for wellbeing in the workplace and available to all employees.

We and our partners hold a shared ambition to see zero suicides across the county. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, find further support.
