Two Essex firms have been awarded the King's Awards for Enterprise this year.

The awards are the UK's most prestigious business awards. They are available in four categories:

  • Innovation
  • International Trade
  • Sustainable Development
  • Promoting Opportunity Through Social Mobility

The winners receive many benefits. As well as an invite to a Royal Reception, they are able to display the emblem, enhancing their commercial prestige.

This year's Essex winners are:

Councillor Louise McKinlay, Essex County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities, Economic Growth and Prosperity, said:

I’ve recently had the chance to visit some of Essex’s most exciting and forward-thinking businesses — from logistics and energy to video game development — and it’s been truly inspiring to see the creativity and drive behind them. It’s brilliant to see two local businesses recognised with King’s Awards this year - big congratulations to them. I’m proud to support and promote business growth here in Essex, working with key sectors and making sure success stories like these are celebrated. Together, we can create more opportunities and keep Essex a fantastic place to do business.

Jennifer Tolhurst, Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, said:

These Awards signal excellence and recognise outstanding achievement. They are recognised throughout the world as a benchmark of quality.

Tom Cannon, Founder and Managing Director of Aconda, said:

We’re incredibly proud to be one of just 197 organisations to receive the King’s Award for Enterprise. This honour reflects the hard work of our team, our dedication to British manufacturing and the game-changing impact our products are having in the field.
