
On Sunday 13 July, an incident happened at London Southend Airport involving a plane which crashed shortly after take-off.
The incident was witnessed by many people and may have been deeply distressing. We want to reassure people that there is support available locally for anyone who needs it.
It’s completely normal to feel anxious after witnessing a traumatic event. If you are struggling or concerned about someone you know, you don’t have to go through these feelings alone.
Where to get help and support
Speak to your GP or call NHS 111.
Talking therapies are available for adults and children, which you can access directly.
The Mental Health Foundation also offers support for people experiencing trauma.
If you or someone you know needs urgent help, you can go to any A&E department or call 999. Find local A&E departments.
If you witnessed the incident and believe you have information relating to it, you can share this directly with Essex Police.
Memorial service and floral tributes
A community memorial service took place on Friday 18 July 2025 at St Andrew’s Church, Hall Road, Rochford, Essex.
