
On Sunday 13 July, an incident happened at London Southend Airport involving a plane which crashed shortly after take-off.
The incident was witnessed by many people and may have been deeply distressing. We want to reassure people that there is support available locally for anyone who needs it.
It’s completely normal to feel anxious after witnessing a traumatic event. If you are struggling or concerned about someone you know, you don’t have to go through these feelings alone.
Where to get help and support
The British Red Cross has a dedicated phone line – 0203 417 0260 - for anyone who witnessed the incident. They will be able to signpost you to relevant support depending on your needs.
The line will be available between 10am and 5pm on Wednesday 16 July and Thursday 17 July.

Talking therapies are available for adults and children, which you can access directly.
The Mental Health Foundation also offers support for people experiencing trauma.
