New primary school in Maldon one step closer as funding given the green light

Funding of over £20 million has been allocated to build two brand new primary schools in Essex, including one in Maldon.

The new school will create 420 new primary school places.

The funding will also see an additional Early Years and Childcare provision at the site providing 56 spaces.

The new Maldon primary school will be located at the Limebrook Way housing development. It is anticipated to be ready from September 2024.

Approximately 1800 homes are planned for the Limebrook Way housing development. With this increase in housing, demand for school places will grow.

This new school will ensure even more children in Maldon get their preferred school place. It will also negate the need for families to travel out of area for school, which in turn reduces the number of cars on the roads, reduces congestion and improves air quality.

A consultation on the proposed new school was conducted earlier this year with residents and organisations having their say on the proposals.

Work will now commence to select Academy sponsors.
