Booking an appointment

Service update

We are currently experiencing a high demand for appointments. When booking an appointment, please look at all Registration offices in your area, as you may be able to find an earlier appointment at an alternative office.

If you need to give notice of intent to marry or form a civil partnership and are unable to find an appointment, please check our website regularly or consider an alternative office to ensure you can give notice at least 29 days before your ceremony date.

We are continually reviewing our appointment availability and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Book an appointment

When you book an appointment you can pay for certificates in advance. Certificates cost £11 each. You can pay by credit or debit card.

Temporary offices

Harlow Library closes from Monday 23rd August to Spring 2022 for refurbishment. During this time, we will open temporary offices at North Weald and Tye Green libraries. We will offer more appointments at Epping Library.

Babies born in Southend, Romford and Leytonstone

If your baby was born in:

  • Southend Hospital
  • Queen’s Hospital, Romford
  • Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone

Do not pay for certificates on our booking site.

You will be registering by declaration. We'll send your details to the local register office so you can purchase certificates from them.

We'll explain this at your appointment.
