Unfortunately, domestic violence and abuse is very common.
Each year nearly 2 million people in the UK suffer some form of domestic abuse - 1.3 million female victims (8.2% of the population) and 600,000 male victims (4%).
It can affect anyone.

Support for people in abusive relationships
The Women's Aid Survivor's Handbook has lots of practical support and advice. This website has a button which allows you to exit it at any time.
The Southend, Essex and Thurrock domestic abuse partnership provides advice and information on support services for those affected by domestic abuse.

Male victims of domestic violence
Men's Advice Line offers support to male victims of domestic violence and abuse.
Report a concern about domestic abuse
You may want to report a concern if you:
- are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of an adult
- suspect they are being neglected or abused
- would like to report an incident
