Social media house rules

Simple house rules aimed at keeping our online spaces positive and engaging.

We want our channels to be a place where we can all engage in a friendly and informative manner.

Our channels include: Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, Linkedin and YouTube.

We've put together some simple house rules to keep our space positive and engaging.

  1. It's your responsibility to comply with each social media platforms terms of use
  2. If commenting on our posts, remember that you are fully responsible for that content
  3. Please treat others as you'd like to be treated, this includes residents posting comments and our employees who put content on our channels. Let's keep all of our conversations respectful
  4. Don't post promotions and external links on our posts, these will be removed
  5. We want our social media pages to be a place for open discussion, however we reserve the right to remove, block or report posts that are abusive, obscene, spammy, deceptive or misleading, in violation of any intellectual property rights, including copyright or any law or regulation
  6. If users continue to go against our house rules, we will block you from our social media channels
  7. We're here to help as much as we can, will be available on our social media channels from 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday except Bank Holidays and aim to get back to first messages and respond to direct post queries within 48 hours
  8. Lastly, our social media and customer service teams who look after our social media channels are humans too, and we'll make mistakes. Please bear with us as we try to make our social media channels the best place for information and support to all residents across Essex
