The Government has announced £1.8 million of grant funding to push forward with three housing schemes. These are located on local authority owned brownfield land in Basildon and Chelmsford.

The sites which have received funding are:

  • Former Post Office Block, Basildon
  • Markhams Chase, Basildon
  • Granary Car Park, Chelmsford.

The three schemes will create 134 homes, 80 of which will be affordable.

This announcement builds on the success of the Greater Essex One Public Estate partnership in securing funding in recent years.

In November last year the partnership won £3.4 million for schemes in Basildon, Colchester and Tendring.

Over the past three years more than £7 million has been raised by the partnership. This will support 14 local authority led housing schemes, all creating quality housing on brownfield sites.
