Neighbourhood planning advice

Neighbourhood planning allows your local community to help shape the development and growth of your area.

If considering producing a Neighbourhood Plan, you should approach your local borough, city, or district council for help and guidance on how to go about this.

As a key provider of services and infrastructure, we have produced a wide range of guidance documents that can help when preparing a Neighbourhood Plan. These are used by local authorities and have been adopted as policy by some.

View our Neighbourhood Planning Guide (PDF, 455.27 KB), which covers our service areas. This contains:

  • details of which of our services may need to be considered when carrying out neighbourhood planning
  • links to policy guidance
  • advice on how to engage with us
